Project Summary
The XR Lab at West Suffolk College’s University Studies campus is one of the most unique projects Fusion have ever worked on. We provided project management and quantity services for the extended reality facility, which provides a glimpse into the future of teaching and learning, delivering fully immersive, extended and virtual reality spaces which open the door to a far wider range of learning environments than have previously been available to students. Fusion helped the College to secure capital funding via the Office for Students capital fund and then managed the on-site delivery for the build project.
Taking inspiration from the movies Men in Black and 2001: A Space Odyssey, the architect, Windsor Patania, designed a striking monolithic structure built within an existing warehouse building. The facility has since become a pioneering teaching environment with other educational institutions visiting the College on a regular basis to help shape their own VR/XR curriculum. A great project to be involved with particularly given the ever growing shift into immersive teaching and learning.
