Following the merger of Great Yarmouth College and Lowestoft College to form East Coast College, Fusion were commissioned to Project Manage a brand-new vocational teaching facility specialising in energy and marine engineering.

Located on the College’s Lowestoft campus, the £12m new build project comprises two engineering workshops, general classrooms, staff rooms and a large conference space. The teaching facilities also include spaces fitted out with specialist equipment supplied by maritime specialist and industry leader, Kongsberg. This includes a state-of-the-art marine simulation suite.

The project, included the demolition of an old technology block, construction of the new teaching facility and soft and hard landscaping works, was delivered on time and under budget and has since become an integral part of the College campus.

Great Yarmouth Campus Refurbishment

Fusion were appointed to project manage the refurbishment of two of the central blocks of East Coast College’s Great Yarmouth campus, split over two phases.

The first phase included a new ‘Learning Street’, comprising general teaching and IT classrooms with a central breakout space for informal learning. The second phase included the full refurbishment of a tower block, including a two-storey extension with an atrium backing on to a new LRC and open learning space.

The refurbishment helped the College to convert space that was tired and not fit-for-purpose, in to high quality teaching spaces to provide staff and students best the best possible teaching and learning environment.
