The St Marylebone CE Bridge School scheme delivers a purpose-built specialist secondary school with the provision for 70 SEN students with EHC plans for speech, language and communication needs.

The St Marylebone Bridge Special School is being self-delivered by Westminster City Council; with the majority of funding being provided by the Department for Education. The complex scheme involves the re-location of the school to a new site, requiring extensive stakeholder management.

The scheme is also utilising the DfE framework for the procurement of the Design and Build Contractor, however, obtaining planning permission within an accelerated timeframe was the key driver for Westminster City Council, which would normally be obtained by the contractor. Fusion therefore sought an alternative procurement route, allowing the client to develop the design to RIBA stage 3 and obtain planning permission as required.
