Russell qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor thirty years ago having graduated from Salford University. He has worked as a Project Manager since the 1990s. As a project manager Russell has worked across many sectors including education, defence, health, telecoms, commercial and housing.
He has been particularly interested in projects with complex interfaces and constraints. Recently this included the Project Management of the £400m infrastructure works associated with Public Health England’s relocation to Harlow. He has also worked within programme management roles including the rationalisation of the Learning Skill’s Council property portfolio and the roll-out of the Airwave telecoms system. Other interesting projects include the construction of the Frimley Park eye hospital, the consolidation of ‘999’ call centres and the relocation of the Warsash Maritime Academy.
Outside work, Russell is a keen runner and sailor. He races his boat on the Solent and has competed in Cowes Week for many years.
